On Wednesday, comic book creator Eric Canete launched a crowdfunding campaign for Arc Athena Book One, an all new, hardcover graphic novel intended as the first part in a six-issue miniseries. The project is already fully funded, having raised roughly $18 thousand at the time of this writing.

Written and illustrated by Canete (TRON Uprising) and featuring colors by Giuliano Peratelli (Sovereign Wolf) and lettering by the prolific Eric Weathers (Battle Brick Road), Arc Athena Book One will be approximately 60-pages long (48-50 pages of story with 12-13 pages of supplemental material).

Here’s the official plot synopsis taken from the Arc Athena Indiegogo campaign page:

“Neon Gods” to their adoring public, ARC ATHENA is the super powered team that the world is desperate for. Curated by the global tech and entertainment giant known as ARC, each member represents the most aspirational hero that public polling data can provide. Athena’s roster consists of characters whose powers are bombastically perfect for their obsessed audience but yield very low stopping force- everything is for “The Show”.

On the other side of the coin is ARC POSEIDON, the dark secret no one wants to believe exists. They are the lethal ARC mechanism used to extinguish threats so that the world can sleep soundly in their beds. The team operates behind the scenes with brutal force and without fanfare. Each member of the team has impressive power sets, abilities and technology that makes them equipped to combat larger-than-life villains and events.

Backers can get a copy of Arc Athena for $25. If you have more money to spend, you can also pick up the following:

It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at $8 for those in the United States.

The final book will be distributed by Iconic Comics, and the first 1000 backers will receive a bonus Arc Athena X Kamen America art print featuring artwork by Timothy Lim. Canete insists that the campaign will not go in-demand, so don’t delay if you’re hoping to buy in.
