Shanth Enjeti’s “Nosfero: The Crypt Walker” Paints a Unique Portrait of Horrors
Over the long weekend, independent comic book creator Shanth Enjeti launched a crowdfunding campaign for Nosfero: The Crypt Walker, a horror adventure book presented in an oversized 8.5in x 11in, square-bound format.
Written and illustrated by Enjeti, Nosfero is a standalone story with full-color painted artwork. The main story will be 25+ pages, but the book will also include some pinup artwork as well as the painted pages without any lettering or text (which is a pretty cool idea, if I don’t say so myself), for a grand total of 50+ pages.
The project is already fully funded, having raised more than $5 thousand at the time of this writing.
Here’s the official plot synopsis taken from the Nosfero Indiegogo campaign page:
“Nosfero: The Crypt Walker!” introduces us to a supernatural hero named Nosfero. Sworn to battle the vampyr cultists in their quest to unleash cosmic horrors upon this world, Nosfero is able to is able to traverse the underworld with the aid of the gigantic nether-hound, Fantomas.
“Nosfero” loosely translated to mean “iron nose”, gets his name from the silver stake that permanently attached his mask to his face during an ancient ritual performed by the Vampyre Priestess, Lavinia Thulhu. This ritual placed a curse on him that if he should ever kill her, his mission to defeat her evil master will fail, and if he removes the piece of silver from his face, he will die.
Lavinia is the mother of the unholy monster, Dracus Thulhu, a tentacle clad vampiric abomination conceived in a ritual led by the father of the vampyre race, the undead, Egyptian cultist, Amun Alhazred. The unholy trinity wants to offer the Earth’s living inhabitants as a sacrifice to the unholy cosmic entities that they serve.
The story begins after a decade long stalemate between the Nosfero and the unholy trinity’s vampyre horde. When Nosfero interrupts a ritual sacrifice, his destiny becomes intwined with an angelic young maiden named Laurel.
Also, there may be werewolves in it…
