Studio Azoth’s “Future Primitive Mag” Reveals the Mythology of a Lost World

Earlier this week, Studio Azoth launched a crowdfunding campaign for Future Primitive Mag, a 52-page, oversized comic that combines elements of fantasy, mythology and human pre-history.

Written by Kevin Gunstone and featuring illustrations by Slobodan Jovanovic, Future Primitive Mag is designed for fans of Conan, Lord of the Rings, and Planet of the Apes.

Here’s the official pitch taken from the Future Primitive Mag Indiegogo campaign page:

The first FUTURE PRIMITIVE adventure – Memory of Being – was published by Markosia Enterprises in 2016. We always wanted to produce a sequel and have reacquired the publishing rights for its return. This time presenting it in a format that inspired its creation – as we love retro sci-fi and fantasy mags like Heavy Metal, Savage Sword of Conan, Warren’s 1984/94, Epic Illustrated, and a host of others…

FUTURE PRIMITIVE is a BIG story, which needs to be told from the beginning. In the first three issues we reprint the original story, recolour pages, and add extra material to enhance this unique world.

Journey to the timeless continent of Ultima Pangea…

• Witness intrepid Neanderthal warriors, led by the indomitable Kulkan of the Skybearers, battle to protect the all-powerful energy source his doomed civilization worship as a God!

• Experience the terror of the rampaging Moon Klan, fanatical Australopiths pledged to the Skybearers annihilation with the cry: “More blood for Mother Moon!”

• Uncover the strange mysteries, technology, history, and myths of the archaic races who inhabit this unknown epoch of Earth!

Backers can get a digital version of Future Primitive Mag for $6, while physical copies start at $11 (all converted from British pounds). If you have more cash to spend, you can also receive the following:

  • Multiple copies of the book
  • Variant cover
  • Art prints
  • T-shirt
  • Original page artwork
  • Original character watercolor art

It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at $7 for those in the United States (UK backers can qualify for free shipping).
