The War for Christmas Continues in “Bric-A-Brac 3”
“Fear not, for I bring tidings of great joy! Unto you is launched this day on Indiegogo is a comic that is Christmasy.” – The Gospel of Luke (probably)
On Thursday, independent comic book creator Ryan Haack launched a crowdfunding campaign for the third issue of Bric-A-Brac, a 25-page Christmas-themed comic.
Written and co-created by Haack, illustrated and co-created by Rafael Sam, and featuring lettering by Erik Hodson, Bric-A-Brac puts a fantasy adventure spin on a number of classic Christmas tales & traditions.
Here’s the official plot synopsis taken from the Bric-A-Brac Indiegogo campaign page:
THE WAGES OF WAR!
The Nutcrackers have never been closer to taking over Planet Christmas! Since the ignominious Caesar Dimitrius supplied them with advanced weapons and technology, the wooden soldiers have been an unstoppable force against the under-equip militias and civilians who desperately fight to defend their homes!
But all of that is about to change. The war is about to shake up permanently!
Dimitrius has been tricking the Nutcrackers all along, and he’s about to pull out his ace in the hole…a mechanism known as the SOLSTICE EATER!
Our main hero Garret is desperately searching for Father Christmas, the man he believes can save everyone from this madness. But finding him has been way harder than he could ever imagine. On his journey, he will meet Good King Wenceslas and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future!
Backers can get a digital version of Bric-A-Brac issue 3 for $8, while physical copies start at $12 (which includes the digital version and an art print). If your Grandma sent you a little extra cash in this year’s Christmas card, you can also pick up the following:
