Taito’s “Highway Race” Joins the Arcade Archives on Nintendo Switch and PS4
Game publisher Hamster has announced that 2D vertical racer Highway Race is now available on PS4 and Nintendo Switch as part of the digital Arcade Archives series.
Originally released in arcades by Taito in 1983, this Arcade Archives release is the first home console port of Highway Race.
Highway Race is a 2D, vertically scrolling racer that takes players through multiple courses while avoiding obstacles and other vehicles. To reach the goal of each course, you have to build up enough speed to successfully jump across to the opposite bank and land safely by using a parachute. I’ve never seen a highway quite like that, eh?
Like other Arcade Archives titles, players can post their high scores to the online leaderboards and change various game settings to match their own personal skill levels and taste. It is also worth noting that this Arcade Archives release was created using the Japanese ROM.
Arcade Archives Highway Race is available today for $7.99 via PSN and the Nintendo Switch eShop.
