Throwback Sci-Fi Graphic Novel “Overmind” Now on Kickstarter
On Tuesday, independent author and comic book creator Jon Del Arroz launched a crowdfunding campaign for Overmind, a girthy, 66-page sci-fi graphic novel. The project is already fully funded, having raised more than $10 thousand at the time of this writing.
Written by Del Arroz (Deus Vult, A High School Girl in the Crusades) and featuring illustrations by Ms. Krimson, Overmind is designed “in the tradition of the great science fiction European comics.”
In addition to the comic, there is also a full-length sequel novel starring Overmind’s Special Agent Ayla Rin (also by Del Arroz).
Here’s the official pitch taken from the Overmind Kickstarter campaign page:
Ayla Rin, Agent of Terra Prime has uncovered a plot against the Imperium!
On a faraway colony planet, the governor is linking his populace into an ethernet where they are being mind-controlled by a rogue artificial intelligence that seeks galactic domination!
Only Alya Rin can stop this nefarious plot and save humanity as we know it.
Fans of Valerian, The Incal, and Saga will love OVERMIND!
Backers can get digital versions of both the Overmind comic and novel for $17, while physical copies of the comic start at $25. If you have more cash to spend, you can also receive the following:
- Multiple copies of the book
- Variant covers
- A hardcover edition
- An original artist sketch
- Acrylic standee
- Challenge coin
- Copies of previous books written by Del Arroz
- The chance to have your likeness drawn into the final comic or your name written into the prose novel
