Welcome the Summer with Zaid Comics’ “CG Vacation” Swimsuit Special

The sibling startups of Brandon and Phill Diaz recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for CG Vacation, an art book reminiscent of the “swimsuit specials” that other comic companies used to do before they turned into joyless, politically correct puritans.
The CG Vacation book will feature artwork and characters by dozens of independent artists associated with Comics Gate*, including Michael Bancroft, Donal Delay, Monica Maccagni, Graham Nolan, Patrick Thomas Parnell, Shelby Robertson, Irene Strychalski, Art Thibert, and many more. The book totals 55+ pages and is in an oversized (8.5″x11″), hardback format.
Here’s a brief description of the project from the CG Vacation Indiegogo campaign page:
A throw back to the 90s style swimsuit books of the past. Summer fun across comic worlds, featuring characters from a ton of your favorite CG books. This is not just a pin up book! CG Vacation will include spoof advertisements, and a narrative tour throughout the pages, laid out by the book’s mascot, Mr. CG!
Backers can get a copy of CG Vacation for $40. If you have more cash to spend, you can also pick up the following:
- Multiple copies of the book
- A 2023 calendar
- Beach towel
- Original artwork
There’s not tons of art to show off (how does one sell an art book if you’re giving it away for free?), but if you’re interested, you can check out the CG Vacation Indiegogo campaign page here.

*Note: We define “ComicsGate” as a loosely-knit network of comic book creators and consumers disillusioned with plummeting traditional comic book sales and concerns of political/ideological encroachment into the professional practices of the comics industry.
