Broken Compass Comics recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for Magnificent Bastards! issue 1, a 42-page comic intended as the first issue of a new sci-fi series.

The project is already fully funded, having raised approximately $1500 at the time of this writing.

Written by James Rock and featuring illustrations by Samir Simão and colors by Rob Croonenborghs, Magnificent Bastards! is a reality bending dark comedy that is intended for mature audiences.

Here’s the official pitch taken from the Magnificent Bastards! Indiegogo campaign page:

He’s a horrible person, a no good criminal, and a lousy brother.

This first 42 page issue, tells the life story of Montgomery Chester Williams, a damaged child that grows up to be a bastard.

When Monty meets a Walrus named Lucy, he finds himself in a conflict that spans multiple realities. With one last chance to turn his life around, will he become the hero that he was never meant to be?

• Full color interiors.

Backers can get a digital version of Magnificent Bastards! for approximately $8 (converted from $10 Canadian), while signed physical copies (along with the digital PDF and a bookmark) start at approximately $23.
