Blue-Collar Ghoul “Otis Stein” Returns for Issue 2 (Crowdfunding Spotlight)
Independent comic book creator Matthew Vealy recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for Otis Stein issue 2, a 32-page horror adventure comic book.
Written by Vealy and illustrated by Carlos F. Rodriguez, Otis Stein is a modern reimagining of Mary Shelley’s classic monster tale Frankenstein. Like the book that inspired it, Otis Stein is not intended for younger audiences.
Here’s the official pitch taken from the Otis Stein Indiegogo campaign page:
Sometimes dead is badass
After the events in Otis Stein #1, the local authorities rush to the Stein residence after receiving reports of screams and gun fire. Meanwhile, Otis continues his mad dash into the wilderness. Unaware of the evils that stalk his every step. Will Otis escape his fate or will he be be dragged deeper into madness?
• 32 PAGES OF STORY make up this epic comic book.
• Using both B&W and COLOR make this a book a feast for the eyes as well as the mind.
• The book is 100% COMPLETE and ready to PRINT!
Written and created by indie writer, Matthew Vealey with art by Carlos F. Rodriguez, this book isn’t like anything you’ve seen on the indie comics market.
Awesome & Sexy Variants
We have brought with us some amazing covers from incredibly skilled artists. Like Eric Kent’s EC Comics throwback variant.
Limited Gag Variant Covers
We also have come to IndieGoGo with three exclusive limited gag cover variants. Only twenty of each will be issued. These covers poke a bit of fun at the problems plaguing mainstream comics. Our firs cover, Invasion of the Gander Swapping Zombies, takes aim at the pointless gender swapping for diversity points. There’s also the Word Salad cover which makes fun of the amount of dialogue some writers insist on having. Finally, we have the Copy/Paste variant. Making fun of the lazy artists who think it’s acceptable to copy/paste panels.
Backers can get a digital version of Otis Stein issue 2 for $6, while physical copies start at $12. If you have more cash to spend, you can also pick up the following:
- Multiple copies of the book
- Variant covers- including multiple “Not Safe for Work” and “gag” covers
- Blacklight poster
- A Bonus Digital edition with additional artwork
- Copies of the first book if you need to catch up
It is also worth noting that there is no additional shipping charge for those in the United States. However, shipping may be charged at a later date via BackerKit or a similar fulfillment service.
