Matt Ringel’s Mythology-Inspired Noir Comic Series “Fallen” Now on Indiegogo (Crowdfunding Spotlight)
Independent comic book creator Matt Ringel recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for Fallen, a six-issue comic series that is now complete with the funding of issues 5 and 6.
The project is already fully funded, having been previously funded via Kickstarter and now having met its Indiegogo funding goal at the time of this writing.
Written by Ringel and featuring illustrations by Henry Ponciano and lettering by Toben Racicot, Fallen is genre-blending crime story set in 1980’s New York City and combines elements of fantasy, noir, and mythology. It is also expressly intended for mature readers, kids.
Here’s the official pitch taken from the Fallen Indiegogo campaign page:
The Gods Are Running the Show in New York City Gangland. The epic conclusion of FALLEN is here!
Ancient mythological gods that had been cast down to Earth have taken over the crime families of New York City. When the Godfather of the Olympian crime family gets murdered, the entire underworld of the city gets thrown into chaos.
The Asgardian Biker Gang and the Shinto Gods start to make their play for the empty seat of power all while wondering who’s next to die. It’s up to the immortal private detective to find the killer before the gang war boils over in the streets and the existence of the ethereal becomes known to the mortals.
Backers can get a digital version of Fallen issues 5 & 6 for approximately $10 (converted from $14 Canadian), while physical copies start at approximately $22. If you are jumping into the series fresh, then you can also pick up the full six issue series in both digital (approximately $30) and physical format (approx. $63). If you have more cash to spend, you can also receive an audio soundtrack, multiple art prints, and a special “Death of a god” variant cover for issue 1. It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at $8 for those in the United States.
