On Wednesday, Haunted Pizza launched a crowdfunding campaign for Hurley’s Heroes issue 1, a 40-page “flipbook” that includes not just the main story, but also a 12-page preview of HP’s upcoming sci-fi action series, Universals Initiative.

The project is already fully funded, having raised more than $3 thousand at the time of this writing.

Written by Mark Poulton (Graveyard Shift) and featuring illustrations by Fredson Oliveira and colors by Anthony George (Graveyard Shift), Hurley’s Heroes is a superhero adventure set in the same universe as SeaDog and Codename: Killswitch.

Hurley’s Heroes tells the story of a man who dedicates his life to helping others after receiving superpowers from his superhero organ donor.

Inspired by the life of Hurley Alderman who dedicated his life to working with children with disabilities after surviving two strokes and dual organ transplants.
