Pum Spak’s All-Ages Comic “Unemployed Monsters” Still Available In-Demand (Crowdfunding Spotlight)

“Monsters” seems a little bit strong… “Hippies” maybe…

Pum Spak recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for Unemployed Monsters, a 56-page comic book featuring work by artists from Rick and Morty and Bob’s Burgers.

The book is fully funded, and currently in-demand, so you can still buy into the project if you missed it during the crowdfunding period (like we did).

Written by Davy T. Otterby and illustrations by Jake Kazakos (Rick and Morty), colors by Josh Perez (Transformers) and lettering by the prolific Eric Weathers (Battle Brick Road), Unemployed Monsters is the all-ages story of “Three friends just want to make music and have fun.”

Here’s the official pitch taken from the Unemployed Monsters Indiegogo campaign page:

Unemployed Monsters is an ALL-AGES universe.

The story revolves around CJ and his two friends Clive and Whameaux. All they want to do is play rock n’ roll because it’s fun. There is also an EVIL group of musicians called GLEEMO and as far as they’re concerned, there is only room for one rock band in this city.

Unemployed Monsters Presents is a 56 page, saddle stitched, high quality FULL COLOR comic book.

The comic book will be printed in January 2023 and shipped directly to you!

  • It contains a 38 page main story with pencils and inks by Jake Kazakos (Rick and Morty) and colors by Josh Perez (Transformers), Written by Davy T. Otterby (that’s me!) and lettered by Eric Weathers.
  • There is also an 8 page backup story with art from Orlando Velez (Rick and Morty, Solar Opposites), Colored by Matt Yackey (DEADPOOL), and Lettered by Eric Weathers.
  • Two Beautiful covers to choose from by Justin Noel and DVO!
  • By backing this book you will be helping to create new, wholesome content to counteract all the recycled junk the mainstream media keeps putting out.

Backers can get a copy of Unemployed Monsters for $25. If you have more money to spend, you can also pick up the following:

  • Multiple copies of the book
  • A variant cover
  • Original character sketches

It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at $10 for those in the United States.
