Anyone else seeing “SNESs”?

Eastasiasoft has announced that 3D survival horror game SENSEs: Midnight is coming digitally to Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbone and SeXbox in June, with physical editions for Nintendo Switch and PS5 going live for preorders later this week.

Developed by SUZAKU Games in partnership with eastasiasoft, SENSEs: Midnight is the first game in a planned anthology of sequels to Sense – A Cyberpunk Ghost Story. The game is inspired by old-school, survival horror classics, featuring tank controls and a 3D world presented with fixed camera angles (yes!). Players take on the role of a university student “with a passion for occult and paranormal phenomena” who explores a dystopian, cyberpunk version of Tokyo.

If you’re new to the Sense universe, the creators promise that SENSEs: Midnight features a fully standalone story that can be enjoyed by those who missed Sense – A Cyberpunk Ghost Story.

Uesugi Kaho is an outgoing and adventurous college student and member of her school’s occult research club. When returning to Japan for a family visit, the other club members dare Kaho to investigate an infamous urban legend, The Midnight Door of Ikebukuro Walking Park. Kaho jumps at the opportunity to prove the legend true and capture positive proof of the paranormal, but entering the long-abandoned park may be the worst mistake she will ever make.

SENSEs: Midnight is a 3D survival horror game inspired by genre classics, featuring tank controls and fixed camera angles in nostalgic style. Discover the secrets of the park via environmental storytelling and lore, manage limited inventory slots carefully to avoid backtracking, weigh risk and reward on puzzles that may alert vengeful spirits, use hiding spots to temporarily elude your pursuer, and remember, there is only one place you can safely save your game. Expect the Ikebukuro Walking Park to ooze dreadful atmosphere while the ever-present threat of a relentless Onryo stalks you!

Preorders for the physical editions will begin on Thursday, 13 April at 11:00am EDT via PlayAsia. The Limited Editions will be $39.99 (limited to 2000 copies on Switch and 1000 copies on PS5) and include the game, manual, soundtrack CD, and a numbered certificate all in a collector’s box. Standard Edition copies will also be available exclusively for Nintendo Switch for $29.99.
