Narwhal’s “Earthbound: Grand Prix” Continues on Fund My Comic

Last week, independent comic book creator Per Berg (aka Narwhal) launched a crowdfunding campaign for Earthbound: Grand Prix* part 2 (of 6), a 48-page sci-fi book.

Written and illustrated by Berg (Hotel Story, Foreign Agent), Grand Prix is the sequel story to the celebrated Earthbound graphic novels. Not only is the project already fully funded, but Berg promises that the book itself is complete, so the turnaround time between crowdfunding and fulfillment should be minimal.

Here’s the official pitch taken from the Earthbound: Grand Prix Fund My Comic campaign page:

WHAT’S THE STORY?

After the events of Earthbound, we jump in three years later and all the iconic characters of Earthbound are in different places, but are poised for a potential reunion at the Grande Prix, and they know it. They’ve been keeping an eye out for each other, wondering when they might meet again. Of course it would be here, at the Galaxy’s greatest fighting tournament, where all the legendary heroes and villians meet, to fight, yes, but also to party.

But something is afoot beneath the surface of the tournament, one of the main administrator’s has gone missing and foul play is suspected. Wiz Kid and his friends investigate the disappearance as the tournament plays out in earnest.

Detailed here is part 2 of 6, whereupon our heroes have entered the mysterious Temple One and begin to see the culture of the Grande Prix for themselves.

This book is 48 story pages, the book itself will be 52.

Backers can get a copy of Earthbound: Grand Prix issue 2 for $16. If you have extra cash to spend, you can also receive the following:

  • Multiple copies of the book
  • Variant covers
  • Previous Earthbound and Earthbound: Grand Prix if you want to catch up
  • Other works created by Narwhal (Cave Slave, Hotel Story Part One, Interactivity)

It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at $7 for those in the United States.
