Mike Baron’s Sci-Fi Superhero “Nexus” Returns

To coincide with the solar eclipse this past Monday, Braly Image Group launched a crowdfunding campaign for Nexus: Scourge, a standalone sci-fi/superhero adventure.

Written by Mike Baron (Nexus, The Punisher, The Flash) and featuring illustrations by Kelsey Shannon (Batman Adventures, Jawbreakers, Norah’s Saga), Nexus: Scourge marks the return of the Nexus character from one of his original creators (that’d be Baron).

Here’s the official pitch taken from the Nexus: Scourge Fund My Comic campaign page:

The hand of Nexus wields the energy of a living sun! Possessing limitless power, Nexus is the greatest avenger in history, but his power and purpose come from an alien race with their own agenda. Is Nexus a hero or pawn? Deliverer or destroyer? God or devil? Created by Mike Baron and Steve Rude, Nexus is a science-fiction superhero masterpiece!

In this brand new standalone story, Nexus faces a mysterious villain threatening all life. Planets are vanishing from the night sky without a trace! Nexus must uncover the truth behind a string of disappearing planets before the universe itself vanishes. With precious few leads and almost no witnesses, the odds seem stacked against survival. How will Nexus save the universe?

Facing an unknown threat, Nexus must get to the bottom of a string of disappearing planets! Leaving no trace—and almost no witnesses—it’s clear a powerful threat is waging war on the entire universe. With all existing life being threatened, and precious few leads, only Nexus can save the universe!

Readers will join Nexus in the fight of his life, combining mystery and universe-ending danger with the science fiction style classic heroics that have always made this series unique, which will appeal to long time readers, as well as science fiction comic fans who are new to the story.

Scourge presents a full hand of villainy, danger, and deceit in an exciting, vivid full-color expansion of the world of Nexus.

Backers can get a digital version of Nexus: Scourge for $10, while physical copies start at $25. If you have more money to spend, you can also receive the following tchotchkes and extras:

  • Multiple copies of the book
  • A signed hardcover edition
  • Signed art prints
  • CGC graded editions

It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at $7 for those in the United States.
