Over the weekend, Rebel Oasis launched a crowdfunding campaign for Phenomenova, 68-page fantasy comic book.

The project is already fully funded, having raised more than $6 thousand at the time of this writing.

Written by Vaughn Coleman and featuring illustrations Philip Cruz and colors by Jesse Heagy, Phenomenova is a superhero tale set in a war-torn future.

Here’s the official pitch taken from the Phenomenova Fund My Comic campaign page:

20 years after World War III, Miles Henksly, the idealistic son of a war hero is struck by lightning while holding a mysterious crystal. Galvanized with lightning powers and speed, a sense of adventure, and the drive to make the world a better place, Miles dons a makeshift superhero costume and the name Galvaknight inspired by his father and the other heroes that came before him. However, he is soon slammed with a harsh reality when his first heroic escapade leads to him charging blindly into a nuclear reactor heist and the crosshairs of a supervillain far out of his league.

In an age of deconstruction and cynicism, Phenomenova is a reconstruction, reconstitution, and celebration of the heroic ideals that the superhero genre was built upon.
