Alterna Comics’ “AlternaWeen” campaign fully funded, charity stretch goals added

Last week, Alterna Comics founder Peter Simeti launched a Halloween-themed crowdfunding campaign known as AlternWeen.* Designed as a fundraiser to help Alterna expand its distribution channels to new retailers, AlternaWeen offers backers a girthy stack of Alterna comics at a steep discount intended to be given away as Halloween treats.

The AlternaWeen campaign quickly met its initial funding goal of $8 thousand in the first four days. Following this success, Simeti has added several stretch goals to the Indiegogo campaign. Not only can backers get even more freebies, but several of the goals will result in charitable donations as well.

Here are the stretch goals announced so far:

$10,000Every backer will receive an “Alterna Ambassador” pin.

$12,000 = Every backer gets an Alterna Comics tote bag. Alterna will be able to pitch their comics to several grocery store chains, and they will also donate 500 all-ages comics to local libraries in the New England area.

$18,000 = Every backer will get a 9″x3″ bumper sticker that says “I SUPPORT MY LOCAL COMIC SHOP.” Alterna will be able to pay for guaranteed promotional placement in at least two chains as well as purchase an additional four years of membership from RangeMe, which will allow them to continue expanding their comics distribution. Alterna will also donate 500 all-ages comics to Shriners Hospitals for Children.

$25,000 = Every backer will get a commemorative 8×10 AlternaWeen print signed by Peter Simeti. Alterna can begin production on marketing materials, promotional items, displays and signage for comic shops that carry Alterna. We’ll also send 500 comics to Books for Troops.

More stretch goals will be announced if the AlternaWeen campaign reaches the $25,000 mark.

Have you backed AlternaWeen? Do you think that distributing free comics to Halloween trick-or-treaters is a great idea, or the greatest idea? You can visit the AlternaWeen Indiegogo campaign page here.

*Disclosure: while not having supported this project at the time of this writing, the author of this post does intend to contribute to the Alternaween campaign before it closes.
