Billy Tucci’s action/horror graphic novel “Zombie Sama” launches on Kickstarter
On Wednesday, renowned comic book creator Billy Tucci (Shi) launched a new crowdfunding campaign for Zombie Sama, an all-new 60-page graphic novel marrying horror, action and what looks to be girthy doses of violence. The project is already an instant success, as it was fully funded in the first seven hours.*
At the helm is Billy Tucci in the writer’s chair and John Broglia (God Complex) as illustrator, with Paul Little as colorist and Mindy Lopkin as letterer/designer.
What’s Zombie Sama all about? Here’s a plot summary taken from the Zombie Sama project page:
“Imagine the horror when sushi delivery boy Jim Okami realizes the citizens of his small town are literally being eaten alive by nuclear-contaminated Zombies!
“As all Hell breaks loose around him, the desperate former slacker grabs the lone katana from above the restaurant’s cash register and is heroically reborn as teen sensation ZOMBIE-SAMA!
“Now armed with sword and chainmail armor conveniently appropriated from a local scuba shop, our hero sets out to save his friends from the irradiated flood of rancorous fallout freaks!“
Backers can get a digital version of Zombie Sama for $10, while physical copies of the book (all signed) start at $25. Those who want to pay more for more perks including extra copies of the book, a hardcover edition, t-shirts, hoodies, variant covers by Billy Tucci, John Brogolia, and Asha Kishna, and even an exclusive ashcan preview book SHI: Return of the Warrior. There’s also a stretch goal if the campaign reaches $25 thousand, which will add a four-page preview of Company Z, another one of Stanley Tucci’s upcoming projects.
Tucci marked the launch the Zombie Sama project with a livestream on his Facebook page which you can watch here, or you can watch Mike S. Miller’s mirrored video on his Blacklist Universe YouTube channel below. (I couldn’t figure out how to embed the Facebook video)
