Billy Tucci’s “Zombie Sama” gets second life on Indiegogo, fully funded in 2 hours (updated)
After a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, renowned comic creator Billy Tucci (SHI) has made good on his promise to launch a second campaign on Indiegogo for those who prefer it as a crowdfunding platform.
It was fully funded in less than two hours.
This huge head start was thanks in no small part to Tucci’s personal friend and comic-creating peer Ethan Van Sciver, who hosted a Zombie Sama launch telethon-stream on his Comic Artist Pro Secrets YouTube channel.
If you haven’t already been following The Splintering’s coverage of Zombie Sama, it’s an all-new action/horror graphic novel written by Tucci and featuring Illustrations by John Broglia (God Complex) and colors by Paul Little.
Here’s a plot summary taken from the Zombie Sama project page:
Imagine the horror when sushi delivery boy Jim Okami realizes the citizens of his small town are literally being eaten alive by puss-spewing, irradiated, nuclear-contaminated Zombies!
“As all Hell breaks loose around him, the desperate former slacker grabs the lone katana from above the restaurant’s cash register and is heroically reborn as teen sensation ZOMBIE-SAMA!
“Now armed with sword and chainmail armor (conveniently appropriated from a local scuba shop), our hero sets out to save his friends from the irradiated flood of rancorous fallout freaks!”
Backers can get a digital version of Zombie Sama for $10, while physical copies of the book (all signed) start at $20. Those who want more perks will find plenty, including extra copies of the book, a hardcover edition, t-shirts, hoodies, variant covers by Billy Tucci, John Brogolia, and Asha Kishna, and even an ashcan preview book SHI: Return of the Warrior. The campaign has already reached its first stretch goal of a trading card for all physical copy backers, and if the campaign reaches $20k (it will), physical backers will also receive a vinyl sticker featuring the Zombie Sama logo.
Swords, zombies, blood, babes… what’s not to like? You can visit the full Zombie Sama Indiegogo page here, but do it fast. Several tiers are already selling out, and the campaign is only scheduled to run for two weeks. You can also watch Tucci’s appearance on the Comic Artist Pro Secrets launch livestream below. He almost cries. It’s pretty
Update – 29 March: The second stretch goal for the Zombie Sama logo sticker has now been met.
