Doug TenNapel’s “Earthworm Jim” graphic novel smashes crowdfunding records; still available in-demand

Overnight, the crowdfunding campaign for Earthworm Jim: Launch the Cow ended as a massive success, raising $706,951 – surpassing Icarus and the Sun to set a new record for a comic book campaign on Indiegogo.

At those numbers, the Launch the Cow project met dozens of stretch goals, including a poster, patch, trading cards, gilded pages, cover upgrades, extra pages added to the “making of” book, and bonuses paid to many of the book’s collaborators such as colorist Katherine Garner, letterer Eric Weathers, and others.

Here’s how the project’s writer/artist and Earthworm Jim creator Doug TenNapel responded to Launch the Cow‘s success:

TO ALL OF MY AMAZING BACKERS: THANK YOU!

Thank you all for making this a dream come true. I’ve been waiting 27 years to tell this story, and you have made it possible! You made this the craziest, most exhausting campaign full of drama right to the end. We started today with $563,000 and closed it out with a massive sprint to the finish at $706,951, setting the record for the highest funded comic book in the history of Indiegogo! My team and I are dedicated to producing this amazing book that each and every one of you made possible.

For those of you who missed out on backing Earthworm Jim: Launch the Cow, the InDemand store is now open and the book will remain on sale until the book is sent to the printer.

Well, it’s 2am here in Tennesee and I have to leave for the airport in two hours, I will have a much more detailed update for you after I get to the San Diego Comic-con.  I cannot say this enough: Thank you all!

Your friend in comics,

Doug TenNapel

As TenNapel mentioned, the Indiegogo campaign page has transitioned to an in-demand store, so you can still preorder copies of Launch the Cow for a limited time here.

Congratulations to TenNapel and the rest of the Earthworm Jim: Launch the Cow team.
