The “Earthworm Jim: Launch the Cow” Indiegogo campaign closes over $800k

Over the weekend, the Indiegogo in-demand Store for Earthworm Jim: Launch the Cow ended successfully, raising an incredible total of $816,005, the new record for money raised in a single campaign for a crowdfunded comic book.
Originally created for Playmates in the mid-90s, Earthworm Jim first appeared in a hit video game developed by Shiny for the SEGA Genesis. The character was later featured in a toy line, cartoon series, and of course, sequels to the game. After a two-decade plus hiatus, Earthworm Jim is now having a bit of a renaissance. This comic book campaign comes just two weeks after Intellivision announced that a new Earthworm Jim video game is in development exclusively for their upcoming Amico console. Not only that, but SEGA revealed in April that the original Earthworm Jim would be one of 40 games included with their upcoming Genesis Mini.
Launch the Cow is a 160-page, hardbound graphic novel written and drawn by Earthworm Jim’s creator Doug TenNapel and featuring colors by Katherine Garner. If you snoozed on the Launch the Cow Indiegogo campaign, you’re out of luck for the moment. It’s of course possible that reprints of the book could be made available as part of future crowdfunding campaigns, but if you just can’t wait, you probably have a date with eBay.
Congratulations to the Earthworm Jim: Launch the Cow team.
