“Space Channel 5 VR” delayed to 2020
Originally scheduled to release in 2019, the VR revival of Space Channel 5 is coming a bit later than planned. According to the game’s developer Grounding Inc., Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash! will now be released sometime in 2020.
It’s not like there’s much time left in 2019, anyway….
Here’s the official statement from Grounding:
Thank you for your support for “Space Channel 5”. We regret to announce the “Space Channel 5 VR Kinda Funky News Flash!” will be delayed. Originally scheduled to be released end of 2019, it has since been pushed back to Spring 2020. The new release date will be announced as soon as possible. Thank you again for your support to our game and apologize for the delay.
From Team Grounding.
Space Channel 5 is a unique rhythm/action/sci-fi franchise that started on the SEGA Dreamcast. You control “Space Channel 5” news reporter Ulala as she reports on an alien invasion, all the while trying to maintain ratings by showing off her funky dance moves. The game spawned a sequel on PS2, and both Ulala and her chief rival Pudding have since appeared in several SEGA crossover franchises, including Sonic All-Stars Racing, SEGA Superstars Tennis, and Project X Zone.
Space Channel 5 VR: Kinda Funky News Flash! is now coming to PSVR PS4 HTC Vive, Steam VR, and Oculus Rift sometime in 2020.
