High-Octane Sword Battling Game “Varvarion” Coming to PC from One-Man Developer
Is there still a place for a one-man developer in games? Japanese developer Polygonomicon sure hopes so. The guy apparently does it all, and he is hard at work prepping Varvarion, a new sword combat action game inspired by the 80s and 90s anime. The game puts players in control of barbarians, orcs, and cat girls as they viciously attempt to slice n’ dice their opponents at break-neck speed.
Polygonomicon intended to create a skill-based game that replicated that gave players the sensation of playing in an actual anime sword-fight, complete with all of the acrobatics, hack-n-slashing away hordes, and deft finesse of fighting one-on-one. There are also plans for both online and split-screen multiplayer modes, too.
You can check out the first Varvarian gameplay trailer below.
Polygonomicon has not confirmed on which platforms to expect Varvarion to release, but “Steam is the most likely candidate so far,” according to the developer. He stopped short of confirming that the game will be available in early access, instead coyly stating that he was “considering all options. But what ever the next step, it will need time to be polished enough to be presentable to public.”
