Riot Press’ Ghoulish Gangster Enters the 90s in “Johnny Phantasm: Extreme ‘93” Now on Indiegogo

Over the weekend, independent comic book creator and Riot Press founder Patrick Thomas Parnell launched a crowdfunding campaign for Johnny Phantasm: Extreme ‘93, a 48-page supernatural crime fantasy book.* The project is already fully funded, having raised more than $16 thousand at the time of this writing.
Written and illustrated by Parnell (Ultra Star) and featuring colors by Matt Yackey, JP: Extreme ‘93 is the latest in the Johnny Phantasm saga (the fourth story, if I’m counting properly).
Here’s the official plot synopsis taken from the Johnny Phantasm: Extreme ’93 Indiegogo campaign page:
No matter how horrible things are… All good things come to an end.
The year is 1993.
Johnny Phantasm has finally taken complete control of New Detroit.
But now, like Rome, it must fall! Johnny has turned Detroit into a gaming nightmare.
Can our heroes save the city before it’s too late?
Or is it already too late?! So let’s sit back and enjoy the show!
With the dying words of a corrupt priest, New Detroit’s top hitman was cursed and transformed into the demon crime boss, Johnny Phantasm! At the cost of his soul, he climbed to the top of all the city’s gangsters and became mayor. At one time he could have been the savior of the city, but now he was its destructor. Johnny has turned Detroit into a gambling nightmare! Even though he is the Mayor, Johnny is more like a twisted game show host televising on national TV the downfall of this once proud city. It is now up to a small group of super heroes to save the city.

I’m interested and would get one or two books but I don’t understand the series. What is the chronological order? Will I understand what is going on if I only get 93 or Vol 2? How many books came before 93? Are they collected in Vol 1? Lot of questions.
Would be nice if PTP could provide a short summary to make clear where we are in the series and what new backers have missed so far – and how to catch up.

If you add the volume 1 trade paperback, that will fully catch you up with everything so far.
