Malin & Poulton’s “Graveyard Shift Volume IV” Scares Up Big Money on Day One

On Sunday, independent comic book creator and Malin After Midnight (bring it baaack!) host Jon Malin launched a crowdfunding campaign for Graveyard Shift Volume IV, a 68-page graphic novel that combines elements of horror and superhero action. The project is already well beyond fully funded, having raised approximately $70 thousand at the time of this writing and still climbing.

Co-Created by Malin (Cable, Jawbreakers: Lost Souls) and Mark Poulton (USAssassin, The Savage Hawkman), Graveyard Shift is described as “the Universal Monsters meet the X-Men.” Volume IV is co-plotted by Malin, written by Poulton, illustrated by Jose Garcia, and lettered by the ever prolific Eric Weathers (Battle Brick Road).

Here’s the brief plot synopsis taken from the Graveyard Shift Vol IV Indiegogo campaign page:

GRAVEYARD SHIFT VOL IV continues where VOL III left off, a signal sent into the depths of space draws the envious eye of an evil alien empire. GYS can’t save the world alone this time, they’ll need an army to stop the forces of THE BLACK EMPEROR, making for some uneasy alliances! This is part 1 of a 3 part story that will ultimately conclude the first major story arc (VOLUMES I-VI) of GRAVEYARD SHIFT.

Backers can get a signed copy of Graveyard Shift Vol IV for $25. If you have more cash to spend, you can also pick up the following:

  • A 48-page supplemental book
  • Trading Card
  • T-shirt
  • Original sketch
  • Copies of earlier Graveyard Shift volumes if you need to catch up

It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at $10 for those in the United States.

Congratulations to Jon Malin, Mark Poulton, and the rest of team Graveyard Shift on a successful launch. You can check out some sample artwork below or visit the full Graveyard Shift Vol IV Indiegogo campaign page here.
