The crowdfunding campaign for indie horror comic “Something Real” is live

The crowdfunding campaign for issues 1 and 2 of the horror comic series Something Real is now live on Indiegogo. Seemingly inspired by Nightmare on Elm Street and other supernatural horror stories, Something Real is a tale of terror written by Joey Turnage and featuring illustrations by Ian J. Miller and colors by Fredrik Mattsson.

Here is a summary of the plot taken from the Something Real Indiegogo page:

Something Real Indiegogo horror comic

A small town family is being haunted. The monster from underneath your bed wants their kid. Its mission is simple: craft a new world from the imaginations of brilliantly gifted children. The kid in question, a young boy named Phillip Hasten, is the ultimate example of an extraordinary young mind. Phillip’s untested mental capabilities have made him the boogeyman’s prime target since conception…

The events that follow will change the Hasten family forever. Will they end the boogeyman’s reign and finally break the curse — or will it’s hunger for power result in our ultimate demise?

Backing tiers for Something Real start at $4, which will get you a digital copy of issue 2. Digital copies of both issues 1 and 2 run $6, while physical print copies of both issues are $15. If you want to spend more to get more, there are other perks including signed copies of the book, postcards, original art, and a variant cover by artist Kristian Rossi.

While the first issue of Something Real was funded and fulfilled following a successful Kickstarter campaign several months ago, this campaign will fund physical copies of both issues 1 and 2 of Something Real. This isn’t the first comic-related project to recently make the jump from Kickstarter to Indiegogo. The action thriller series Blue Mamba saw immediate success Indiegogo after a disappointing Kickstarter campaign, while Fathom writer Blake Northcott gave her novel The North Valley Grimoire an extended backing period on Indiegogo following a successful Kickstarter campaign.
