Noble Comics’ “The Displacer” is a Noir Horror Story with a Supernatural Twist (Crowdfunding Spotlight)

Don’t call him “Detective Dead…”
Independent comic book creator Tanner Eddleman recently launched a crowdfunding campaign for The Displacer, a 60+ page self-contained graphic novel.
Written by Eddleman (Cardinal: Cult and Punishment) and featuring illustrations by Nicolas Nieto, The Displacer is a detective noir/horror story with a supernatural twist.
Here’s the official pitch taken from The Displacer Indiegogo campaign page:
Noble Comics presents THE DISPLACER: BOOK 1 a phycological, detective horror story written by Tanner Eddleman with art by Nicolas Nieto.
My name is Tanner Eddleman and I have been a comic fanatic since I can remember. I recently made my comic book debut with CARDINAL: CULT AND PUNISHMENT here on Indiegogo, which despite underfunding, still delivered a great story, on time. I can ensure you that this project will also be delivered on time, regardless of the final dollar amount.
This story, THE DISPLACER, follows an old school detective, one of the fabled Displacers, as he finds himself trapped in small town America, haunted by demonic visions, and watched by the mysterious townspeople. He must find a way to help one of the odd, recently missing, townswomen if he ever wants to return home.
Like with my CARDINAL campaign, the book itself is nearly complete, so a late delivery is unlikely.
What is a DISPLACER?
Displacers are problem solvers. They have the supernatural ability, that no one quite understands, of appearing wherever they are needed. Anytime, anywhere in the world. Once they appear at a given location, they are tasked with finding the reason why they were sent, usually an obvious problem, and once it is solved they reappear back at their home. This process repeats again and again, solving problem after problem for as long they live. This can range from a five minute problem of helping a cat down from a tree, to a weeks long adventure rescuing a missing person.
The jumps are random, totally out of the Displacer’s control. The only thing they control is their own ability to solve the problem, which is the only way to get them home…because if they can’t…God help them.
Backers can get a copy of The Displacer for $25. If you have more cash to spend, you can also receive the following:
- An iron-on Displacer badge (patch)
- A Displacer poster
- A 4″ die-cut sticker
- A trading card
- Bookmark
It is also worth noting that there is an additional shipping charge starting at $7 for those in the United States.
