Fighting Game-Inspired Combatants Hit the Comic Book Page in Tyler Kirkham’s “Final Boss”
Over the weekend, veteran comic book creator Tyler Kirkham launched a crowdfunding campaign for Final Boss, an all new 40+ page high-octane graphic novel. At the time of this writing, the campaign is well beyond funded, so now all that is left to worry about is stretch goals and fulfillment, right?
Returning to the book…
Created, written and illustrated by Kirkham (Green Lantern, Venom) and featuring colors by Ifansyah Noor (Journey Into Mystery) and letters by Troy Peteri, Final Boss blends over-the-top fights of 90s action movies and bold character designs inspired by classic fighting games (I’m getting a lot of Killer Instinct’s Jago with the main character).
Here’s the official plot synopsis taken from the Final Boss Indiegogo campaign page:
Disgraced former Special Forces Operative Tommy Brazen, discovers while fighting in an underground Masked Fighting League, that he has inherited supernatural powers that run in his family.
Based on stories his grandfather told him about how his family came to acquire these gifts, Tommy sets out to learn the truth about his powers and his heritage. Along the way, Tommy travels to a mystical island where competitors fight gladiator style bouts in order to inherit the powers of an ancient god of war.
Crime lords, vigilantes, and more are vying for control of these powers in an escalating struggle and ultimately to become THE FINAL BOSS!
